Pay-as-you-go e-signatures: compare requests, credits and subscriptions
Sending two requests this month and none for the next six months is different from sending documents every day. Compare the cost of that actual pattern, including prepaid balances and optional services, before choosing a subscription or a per-request offer.
A comparison by the maker of DocAISign, based on official product documentation. We have not independently tested every competitor or verified every plan. Product names belong to their owners.
DocAISign paid checkout is not currently enabled. Self-signing is free; check your available sends and the Pricing page before planning a request.
Signable offers an occasional-sender option
Signable’s plans page lists Pay As You Go alongside subscription tiers. It describes charging by envelope and includes templates in that option. Review the current offer and envelope definition: one envelope is a billing unit, not necessarily the same thing as one PDF page or one signature mark.
eSignatures.com separates base contracts and usage add-ons
eSignatures.com lists per-contract pricing with no monthly fee, prepaid credits and separate usage charges for SMS and live photo ID verification. Its page states purchased credits do not expire. Check the current terms and required starting payment before comparing a headline rate with an occasional request.
Compare the same task before comparing amounts
List the number of requests, recipients, templates and verification steps you actually need. Then check the currency, taxes, minimum payment and any extras. A low unit price can still require buying more credit than your next document needs.
For a small recurring workload, a free monthly allowance may already cover the task. For a one-time self-signature, a request allowance may be irrelevant. Do not multiply an annual-billing headline into a monthly commitment without checking the payment terms.
Where DocAISign stands today
DocAISign self-signing is free without an account. A request to one other recipient needs confirmed sender email and an available send. Check the live Pricing page and the checkout-availability notice before planning paid use; a commercial model described on a page is not proof you can purchase it today.
Its current workflow uses a prepared PDF or scan with signature/date fields. It does not provide templates, bulk sends, multiple-recipient routing, SMS invitations or identity-verification services. Choose the required workflow first, then compare its total cost.
Use a small cost worksheet
- Expected requests over the next year, including months with no activity.
- The exact billable unit and how retries, cancellations and replacements count.
- Upfront payment, remaining-credit policy and billing currency.
- Recipient verification, SMS and other usage charges.
- Template, export and record-retention features you need on the selected tier.
Test before committing a balance
Use a fictional sample and a controlled inbox to complete one request, inspect the downloaded records and check what usage was counted. Do not buy a large credit bundle solely to unlock an advertised discount before testing the necessary workflow.
The best fit may be a free plan, pay-as-you-go service or subscription. This guide does not rank them by price because allowances, currencies and features are not interchangeable.
