Terms and electronic signature disclosure

Draft for review before launch. This page is a product description, not legal advice.

What DocAISign is

The standard DocAISign workflow lets you upload a PDF, DOC or DOCX file (or scan paper), mark where signatures and dates go, sign it yourself or send it to one other person to sign, and download the signed PDF with an audit record.

The standard workflow provides electronic signatures and an audit record. It does not provide certificate-based digital signatures or identity verification. For important documents, check the rules where you are.

Browser-only tools

Local signing adds a signature image to a PDF on your device. Local compression rewrites PDF structure without resampling images; it may not reduce every file. These tools do not upload the PDF, send email, generate an audit record or provide certificate-based digital signatures. Keep your original and check the downloaded result before sharing. See local processing and privacy.

Documents not to use it for

Don't use DocAISign for wills, codicils, powers of attorney, or other documents that the law requires to be signed in a particular form, witnessed or notarised. For real estate, family law and court documents, check the local rules before you use an electronic signature.

Your responsibilities

Sends and payments

Signing yourself is free. Each document sent to a signer uses one send. Free accounts get a number of sends each calendar month, shown on the pricing page. A pass gives unlimited sends for the period shown, from the time the payment is confirmed. Pro gives unlimited sends and renews monthly until you cancel; after cancelling it stays active until the end of the paid month, and paid months are not refunded. Prices are shown before you pay. Unlimited sends are still subject to the daily abuse limit. Plans start when our payment provider confirms the payment.

Electronic records and signatures disclosure (for signers)

When you open a DocAISign signing link, you are asked to agree to this before you can sign:

How standard signing files are sealed

When signing is complete, DocAISign places the signatures and dates into the PDF and calculates its SHA-256 fingerprint. The fingerprint is printed in the audit record. Anyone can calculate the fingerprint of the file they hold (for example certutil -hashfile file.pdf SHA256 on Windows or shasum -a 256 file.pdf on macOS) and compare: a different value means the file was changed after signing.

No guarantees

DocAISign is provided as is. We don't promise that a document signed with it will be accepted for any particular purpose.
