Troubleshooting
Signature in the wrong place? Check rotated PDF pages and field assignment
A field belongs to a particular page and person as well as a position. Before signing, check all three. Landscape content, a sideways scan and a PDF page carrying rotation metadata can look similar but need careful review in the actual preview.
DocAISign paid checkout is not currently enabled. Self-signing is free; check your available sends and the Pricing page before planning a request.
Separate page orientation from sideways content
A landscape page can be correctly oriented and need no change. A photograph taken sideways may need rotation during scan review. Start by deciding whether the document is meant to read horizontally or is simply displayed incorrectly.
For paper input, rotate and crop the photo before making the PDF. For an existing PDF with incorrect content orientation, prepare a corrected source copy before adding signatures. Do not change an already completed original just to adjust its appearance.
Wait for the correct page preview
In DocAISign, inspect the page number and complete preview before placing a field. Do not place boxes on a blank or partially loaded page. If a preview error offers a retry, reconnect and use it before continuing.
Check the actual signature line at a readable zoom. A similar-looking line on another page can be easy to confuse in a long document. Review the page again after placement rather than relying only on the thumbnail or current scroll position.
Check location and ownership separately
Choose a Signature or Date box, then place it on the intended page. Drag it to move and use its corner control to resize. With a box focused, the editor also supports arrow-key movement and Shift for larger steps.
Check Me versus Signer after placement. Changing who fills a new box does not mean every existing box has been reassigned. A correctly located box belonging to the wrong person can still block or misdirect completion.
Keep the mark clear of document content
Use the actual signature space and leave room for surrounding labels, dates and terms. Make a box large enough for a readable mark without covering adjacent text. On a phone, review the surrounding page after moving or resizing rather than only looking at the selected box.
Include both portrait and landscape pages in a fictional test when your real documents mix them. Inspect the downloaded signed PDF in a viewer as well as the in-browser preview. DocAISign’s coordinate handling supports rotated pages, but each source should still be reviewed.
If the downloaded result looks wrong
Keep the original upload, completed PDF and audit together so you can distinguish a source-orientation issue from a placement issue. Compare the exact page and field. Do not resave over the completed original while diagnosing the problem.
If the document has already completed, use an agreed correction or new version rather than trying to move its signed fields. For a still-pending request, the owner can revoke the link before preparing a replacement.
A final placement check
- The field is on the intended page, not merely a similar page.
- The page reads in its intended orientation.
- The box belongs to the correct person and does not cover text.
- The completed mark and date are legible in the downloaded PDF.
- Any correction uses a clearly identified version and the right request state.
