Agree payments vs PDF signing: collecting money is a separate requirement

A signed document and a paid invoice are different records. If your process needs both, identify who collects money, how it is matched to the document and where the payment result is stored before comparing signature tools.

A comparison by the maker of DocAISign, based on official product documentation. We have not independently tested every competitor or verified every plan. Product names belong to their owners.

DocAISign paid checkout is not currently enabled. Self-signing is free; check your available sends and the Pricing page before planning a request.

What Agree connects to payments

Agree’s payments page describes ACH and card payments from invoices, with incoming payments matched to an invoice and contract. It also describes recovery for failed payments. This connects collection and reconciliation rather than merely placing a signature on a PDF.

Separate two very different kinds of payment

Paying a signing provider for sending credits is a service purchase. A customer paying you an invoice is collection against your business transaction. One does not imply the other, even if both involve a checkout screen.

DocAISign does not currently collect a recipient’s invoice payment, reconcile receipts or report settlement. Its sending allowance and checkout availability concern using the signing service. A signed PDF is not a paid-invoice confirmation.

Check the entire money-and-document path

  • Which invoice and document reference will identify the transaction?
  • Does the required payment method work for the intended region and currency?
  • When is the request considered signed, and when is payment considered settled?
  • What happens if signing completes but payment fails?
  • Who can export the completed agreement and the separate payment record?

Test without assuming the signature proves payment

Use the provider’s supported test or demonstration process to inspect success and failure states before relying on a live collection flow. Check current eligibility, fees and settlement terms with that provider. This comparison does not verify them for your business.

Give staff distinct references for the signed version and payment result. A screenshot of a signature, an invoice marked sent or an opened invitation should not be substituted for the payment status you actually need.

Where a standalone PDF workflow fits

DocAISign handles a prepared PDF or scan with signature/date boxes for you and one other recipient. Self-signing can be anonymous. Sending requires confirmed sender email and available sends; the recipient uses an email link without registering.

If collection is already handled elsewhere, keep that process separate and match the final records using your own references. If integrated invoicing and collection are requirements, evaluate a service designed for those stages.

Keep the records clear

Save the completed PDF and audit with the document reference. Store the appropriate invoice and payment records through your existing process. Neither closing a signing link nor changing a file name recalls copies already delivered or resolves a payment mismatch.
